Terms of Service

Troth helps you decompose software specifications into scoped tasks and coordinate execution — manually, with AI agents, or both. The Service includes the Troth CLI, the web app at troth.dev, and the MCP server at mcp.troth.dev that exposes Troth functionality to AI clients (e.g. Claude, Claude Code, and other MCP-aware tools).

We may add, remove, or change features over time. Material reductions in functionality that affect paid users will be announced in advance where reasonably possible.

You sign in with GitHub or Google OAuth. We identify your account by the email and profile information the provider returns. You are responsible for the security of your OAuth provider account and for all activity under your Troth account.

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

You may close your account at any time from within the Service. Deletion is subject to a 7-day grace period during which the action can be reversed; after that window elapses, your personal data is removed per our Privacy Policy.

You agree not to:

You own everything you create in Troth — specs, tasks, context bundles, notes, decisions, and run logs (“Your Content”). We do not claim ownership of Your Content.

By using the Service, you grant Troth a limited, non-exclusive license to host, process, and display Your Content for the sole purpose of operating the Service for you. This license ends when you delete Your Content or close your account.

We do not use Your Content to train machine-learning models. If that ever changes, it will be strict opt-in and announced in advance.

You can export Your Content at any time in YAML or JSON from the web app or via the CLI.

Troth has a free tier and paid tiers. Paid plans are billed via Stripe. Pricing, entitlements, and billing cadence are shown at checkout and on the pricing page.

You authorize us (through Stripe) to charge your chosen payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial periods except where required by law.

If you supply your own Anthropic API key (via ANTHROPIC_API_KEY), model usage is billed by Anthropic directly — not by us. You are responsible for usage on any key you configure.

Troth integrates with third-party services listed in our Privacy Policy (Supabase, Anthropic, Mistral, Stripe, Sentry, Vercel, Fly.io). Your use of those services through Troth is governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party outages, pricing changes, or policy changes, but we will work to maintain the Service in the face of them.

You can stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate your access if you materially violate these Terms, put the Service or other users at risk, or if we are required to by law.

Where practical, we will give you notice and a chance to fix the problem before termination. On termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately, but provisions that should survive by their nature (warranty disclaimer, liability, indemnification, governing law) do survive.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that AI-generated outputs will be accurate or fit for your purpose.

Troth orchestrates AI models but does not control them. Review AI-generated specs, tasks, and code before acting on them.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Troth and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.

Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to these Terms or the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars ($100).

You agree to defend and indemnify Troth and its operators against claims, damages, losses, and reasonable legal fees arising from your use of the Service, Your Content, or your violation of these Terms or of any third-party right.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to that jurisdiction and venue.

If any provision of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will update the effective date and notify you by email or through the Service before the change takes effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date means you accept the revised Terms.
